Does anyone have any charities they recommend and why? Once you donate to one charity (e.g. Hurricane Harvey relief) you end up being inundated (just completely overrun!) with mail soliciting charity donations. It’s hard to know who you can trust to use the funds appropriately.

What’s really frustrating is realizing that when you donate to a charity they share (sell?) your contact information with everyone else!

Another thing to find out when donating to a charity is – how much of it goes to the actual charity “works” and how much of it is chewed up by administration. We all know that charities require mooney for admin, but you hear horror stories at times about some that chew up the bulk of the money with admin and salaries, and then only a small percentage goes to the actual cause that the money was donated to.
