Donald Trump – ‘God’ Guy or Bad Guy? A Look into the Past and Present

I recently listened to Mena Lee Grebin’s interview on July 2, 2016, and it was very exceptional and from the heart.  I found everything she said to be spot on. I completely agree with her thoughts in respect to Donald Trump.  I am definitely not one of those that look at him as any real savior or hero, just a man.  He is just potentially one of the last installment of presidents, and perhaps THE final president the USA will have in our history.  I wrote to Tony Koretz about what Mena shared, along with my own thoughts, and I appreciated his response.

“It appears to me that many people are caught up in the whole Hollywood movie thing, i.e. – “I am not anti-Trump, but I am certainly anti-Clinton”. Point being, what if neither of them is going to bring the freedom that American’s are hoping for? Could it be there is no “’god’ guy or bad guy”, no good cop/bad cop in this election? What if neither of them is going to lead the USA back to the good old days? Also, do not discount Obama as going to fly off into the sunset either. However, no one should even consider voting for Clinton. In Hollywood movies, there is always a good guy and a bad guy. This is not Hollywood. This is reality. If America and the world is entering into judgement, how is a politician going to stop that?”

Well said Tony!

The vast majority of Christians are so desperate, they want to believe that Trump will be the answer for our moral declension and societal demise. The greater majority of Americans who are Trump supporters remember America’s “days of youth” through having lived in it, and are clinging to the historical principles of what our nation once stood for. A dose of brutal reality is that the past is dead and gone. It can never be re-lived. We cannot get back something that once was. People tend to desire this in many different aspects of life.

On the other hand, I do not think that Christian Trump supporters believe that he will be the power broker he is in the business world. This I mean in regards to the salvation and reinstatement of what America was fifty or more years ago. The feeling that I get from them is that they are so desperate, any kind of change for the better he may have the power to do, is good and fine by them.

The reality is that our nation is too far-gone. Basically, we have declined into a sub-form of what we were. We once stood out among all nations as the greatest nation on earth. We most certainly were one of the most blessed nations that ever was. We have set the tone and standard to all post-modern societies. Our culture has been the envy of all people who have emulated our customs – perhaps not all nations, but the majority of them.  Truth is we will never be what we were before.

I watched a Nathan Leal video recently on Trump meeting with one thousand ministers. The report that derived from that meeting was that Mr. Trump had become born again.  The Rev. Jerry Falwell is said to have led him to Christ according to Dr. James Dobson, whom he knows personally and says he trusts.  My thoughts are much of the same as Nathan’s, Mena’s, and Tony’s. I prefer to take a position first hand that if he did become authentically born again, only God truly knows it at this present time. I refuse to jump to conclusions that it was just a show.  If he is genuinely saved, we will see the fruits of it soon enough.

If Donald Trump is saved, he got saved at one of the hardest times in life, especially where he comes from, and what he is now doing on the world stage.  I never forget that everyone who gets saved comes in with baggage.  If this be true, he has only “entered in through the narrow gate”, that is all.  If indeed it was a show for political advantage, it will be as evident as the “New Birth” in contrast comparison.

To add to the idea of any man or woman running for office that would espouse Christ is still never to be trusted – no way!  Everyone that takes the seat of POTUS cannot sit in it by being a core Believer of Jesus Christ.  The reason being is that he or she would have to submit himself or herself under the governing power of the High King of Heaven.

A true lover of Christ would have it no other way.  It can be no other way!  Remember when Christ came it was said of Him, “For he came unto His own, but His own received Him not” John 1:11 (KJV).  If Christ Himself came unto His own and they did not receive Him, this stands true even today. Only the words “Crucify Him, Crucify Him” will be the same words against Him today as they were back then.

In the distant past, generations ago, our nation might have voted in that kind of Christian man for the presidential position.  However, in light of these last decades there has been a great decline and deterioration with all world leaders, not just our own.  Just a simple reading of the books of Judges, First and Second Samuel, First and Second Kings, is history enough to set the groundwork for future kingdoms and their rulers. From the beginning of earthly kingdoms in their most primitive forms, to the last of earthly kingdoms in their mightiest forms, the results always end up the same.

These Bible books always start out with a type of “Founding Father’s” purity, and they all wind up as the evil King Mannaseh did before he repented.  Consider Jehoiachin, King of Judah, who was taken away captive into Babylon by Nebuzaradan, Captain of Nebuchadnezzar’s guard.  After some time in custody, the evil Merodach, King of Babylon, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin and brought him out of prison. This occurred in the first year of King Merodach’s reign.

He [King Merodach] spoke kindly to him and gave him [King Jehoiachin] a more prominent seat than those of the kings who were with him in Babylon. He [King Merodach] changed his [King Jehoiachin] prison garments and ate bread regularly before the king for the rest of his life. As well as for his provisions, there was a regular ration given to him by the King of Babylon, a portion for each day until the day of his death, all the days of his life. Jeremiah 52:31-34.

King Jehoiachin was the last of the “great kings” who became a prisoner and “his crown [not] enduring forever”.  His final days were spent as any other of the King of Babylon’s pet servants, eating the servant’s rations at the table of the destroyer of his people and nation. He became one of the King’s pet kings. What an indictment. He had to sit at that table of that wicked king as a living trophy of his conquest over the greatest of dynasties.  I am sure he spent what was left of his remaining years in shame and disgrace and hated his life until his last dying breath.

I say all of this because power is not acquired in this corrupt world through generations of increasing evil by claiming Christianity; especially now at the end of what we know as the Church Age.

Jehoiachin was the last ruler of the Judean Kings who were historically well regarded as one of the mighty kings of the Hasmonean Dynasty. These kings are noted in antiquity as men of “great nobility, fearful and God-like.”  Ancient Egyptian antiquity records this truth as well. The principle of these kings are in view for purposes of Trump at the end game of American history leadership.  The end begets the means.

What does any of this have to do with Donald Trump? As I mentioned earlier, those Old Testament books always begin with the same type of “Founding Fathers” purity our nation was birthed upon. The kings started out in goodness and a high sense of morality; this can also be said of the people living in those times as well. In the end, all had changed. Even by the end of the book of Judges, these judges were not even MENTIONED. As hundreds of years have now passed, think about the purity and morality of the Presidents in the last several decades, compared to those of Americas start and continuing on for years. Think of what has become of the President’s these last several decades. Symbolically, Trump can represent these “kings” of old. He is coming in on the scene at the end of America as we have known it, or from what it once was. The USA is also much older. What does Trump bring to America as far as purity and morality? His fruits are showing the same as the kings and men towards the END of those Bible stories, not what they stood for in the beginning. Let us not forget the people as well. Overall, the morals of the people now, as compared to earlier history, are all but gone.

Therefore, the reduction of power comes from the old adage, “Absolute power corrupts absolutely”.

God allows it. He allows to prove it to everyone, just as He proved it to Nebuchadnezzar who was really in charge.  God warned him and gave him two years to repent. Instead, he disregarded God’s warning and praised himself and his own power.  Remember, it was seven years from that day he self-worshiped and was turned out into the palace yard to live like a beast according to God’s judgment.

“…until thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will…after that ye shall know that the heavens do rule.”  Daniel 4:25-26 (KJV)

The number seven is the spiritual number of perfection and completion.  Until the very last of the seven years was accomplished, he being released out of his bestial state then said, “… understanding returned unto me and I blessed the Most High and praised Him that liveth forever and ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His Kingdom is from generation to generation:  And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing.  He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay His hand, or say unto Him, what doest thou.” Daniel 34-35 (KJV)

The “seventh year that King Nebuchadnezzar lifted up his eyes unto heaven”, is indicative of the final end of the Seven Year period of the Tribulation and Wrath. This is when God is finished judging the Jewish nation for their rejection of their Messiah.  This happens when the judicial cleansing of the earth from Satan’s power will have been completed, and Jesus Christ returns from on high with “ten thousands of His Saints”; when “every eye shall see Him”, and “the tribes of the earth shall mourn”.  For “in that Day” He will come to be glorified in His Saints and to be admired among all those who believe.” 2 Thessalonians 1:10  (KJV). Then all the voices of every world ruler “in that Day” will resoundingly echo throughout their dominions with these very words of King Nebuchadnezzar :

At the same time my reasoning returned unto me; and for my glory of my kingdom, mine honor and brightness returned unto me; and my counselors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.  Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of Heaven, all whose works are truth, and His ways judgment:  and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.”  Daniel 4:35-37 (KJV).

They will all know in “
that Day”, and say these words which can only become the words of the Redeemed of the Lord.  After the judgement of the nations, (see Matthew chapter 25 for the Judgement of the Sheep and Goat Nations), “The nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it [the Heavenly City]; and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.  And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall no night there.  And they shall bring their glory and honor of the nations into it.”  Revelation 21:24-27 (KJV).

When we spell it out like this, all of a sudden all the clamoring and rattling noise of the issues of Donald Trump, or whoever will be the next president, pales.  The endless panel discussions among Believers of Trump being the last hope for America’s restoration and whether or not his conversion to Christianity is real is answered in these historical and prophetic accounts. These next words then become true and come into light – “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, But when that which is perfect shall come, then that which is in part shall be done away…..For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face….” 1 Corinthians 13:11,13 (KJV)

The wealth and richness in looking into ancient kingdoms, historical accounts and records of their rise and fall, combined with the golden threads of prophecy, give us peace; they settle all accounts.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given:  And the government shall be on His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall perform it.”  Isaiah 9:6-7.

This broad base view is a historical overlapping of generation after generation of all world rulers who all ended in shame. For very soon the cry of the angelic host will proclaim, “the Kingdoms of the world are become the Kingdom of God!” This is the patience of the Saints who are waiting for a Kingdom “wherein dwelleth righteousness”.

“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I come quickly.” Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus!” Revelation 22:20 (KJV).
