A Minute To Midnite Staff writerDecember 7, 2017 at 9:41 am #4881My act of political courage: Trump will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital TODAY despite international fury from the Pope, the UK, Russia, China, Turkey, Iran and Palestinians who say ‘he’s declaring war against 1.5 billion Muslims’
President Trump is set to announce he’s recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city, and starting the process of moving the U.S. embassy there from Tel Aviv
‘Many presidents have said they want to do something, and they didn’t do it; whether it’s through courage or they change their mind I can’t tell you,’ he said
International outcry was swift and furious ahead of speech expected at lunchtime in the U.S.
Palestinians said it would be ‘a kiss of death to the two-state solution’ and Trump is ‘declaring war in the Middle East’
Pope Francis said he was ‘profoundly concerned’ and appealed that ‘everyone respects the status quo of the city’
China, which has good ties with Israel and the Palestinians, expressed concerns over ‘possible aggravation of regional tensions’
Iran’s supreme leader said Trump’s new stance represented ‘incompetence and failure’
Russia, a key Middle East player, expressed concern about a ‘possible deterioration’ there
Moving the embassy to Jerusalem will unfold over ‘years,’ a senior White House official said; ‘It won’t be immediate, it won’t be months, it won’t be quick’I think this one is pretty telling Pope Francis said he was ‘profoundly concerned’ and appealed that ‘everyone respects the status quo of the city’

“President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is a historic declaration that sends a clear message to the entire world that the United States stands alongside the Jewish people, the State of Israel and Jerusalem,” Mayor Barkat stated Wednesday evening.

As per the last entry in this thread, it looks like the nations that support Israel are making good on their word to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It will be interesting to see what reactions come from the detractors of Israel on this matter.

By: World Israel News Staff
A new train station that will be built next to the Kotel, the Western Wall, will be named after US President Donald Trump, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz stated this week.
“The Western Wall is the holiest place for the Jewish people, and I decided to call the train station that leads to it after President Trump following his historic and brave decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel,” Katz stated.

“A meeting with the heads of the Christian communities is always important to me, but when we face troubled times it becomes even more important,” began President Rivlin. “In the past years, our region has known so much bloodshed, so much pain, so much suffering. During this dark period, no community has been persecuted more than the Christians, in all countries around us. I pray together with all of you for their wellbeing. In Israel we understand what it means to be attacked, to be persecuted just because of our faith and we are heartbroken to see the suffering.”
The President stressed, “We are meeting today in Jerusalem, our beloved and holy city. Like you, I see my role, and the role of the State of Israel, as guardians of this city. As guardians our sovereignty over Jerusalem will never compromise the freedom of worship and religion for all believers. And today I repeat in the clearest way – the State of Israel is deeply committed to ensure the religious rights of worship and activity, of all communities of faith in Jerusalem, and throughout Israel. Today, I personally restate this commitment to the Christian churches under your leadership.”

“I view the inclusion of ‘Occupied Palestine’ in the list of countries appearing on your official website as legitimizing the division of the State of Israel and as gross and blatant interference, in contrast to the official position of the American administration and the declarations of President Donald Trump, who just recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Therefore, I would like to express my disapproval and ask you to immediately act to remove ‘Palestine – Occupied Territory’ from the list of countries,” Miri Regev, minister of Culture and Sport, said in a sharp letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Thursday. The NBA complied with the request and the choice of “Palestine— occupied territory” was removed Thursday evening.

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley announced that President Donald Trump will not support funding for the Palestinians’ primary UN agency unless the Palestinians return to negotiations.
By: Ebin Sandler, World Israel News
At a press conference at the United Nations (UN) on Tuesday, US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley fielded questions about the fate of US funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the primary UN agency responsible for funneling aid to the Palestinians.
In a video posted by Reuters, Haley responded to a question regarding whether the US would continue to fund the agency in light of the Palestinians’ threat to “unleash all the weapons we have in the UN,” by saying, “[President Trump] doesn’t want to give any additional funding, or stop funding, until the Palestinians agree to come back to the negotiation table, and what we saw with the [UN Jerusalem] resolution was not helpful to the situation.”

January 14, 2018 at 6:41 pm #5635The Palestinian’ Race to the Bottom
By Caroline Glick January 10, 2018 , 10:00 am
The PLO and the Palestinian cause more generally are sinking into irrelevance and rather than reform their policies to rebuild their position, they have adopted a scorched earth policy that only intensifies their race to the bottom. On the face of things, the situation isn’t bad. Last month the PLO got 128 nations to vote in favor of their anti-American resolution rejecting US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. One of the states that voted with them was India.
Israel was shocked by India’s move.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rightly touts the growth of Israel’s bilateral ties with the largest democracy in the world. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s extraordinary visit to Israel last July highlighted the change. Netanyahu’s visit to New Delhi later this month will cement the new alliance.
Not only has Modi enthusiastically cultivated close ties with Israel, he has moved closer to Israel in its conflict with the PLO than any of his predecessors. In 2015, India abstained from an anti-Israel resolution at the UN Human Rights Council. Modi refused to visit the Palestinian Authority during his visit to Israel. And PLO chief and PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s visit to India earlier this year, Modi refused to say – as his predecessors have said – that the capital of a Palestinian state should be located in eastern Jerusalem.

Cursing Trump in Arabic, he stated, “May your house be destroyed.”The US leader has stated on several occasions that achieving peace between Israel and the Palestinians would be “the ultimate deal.”
Trump’s plan to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem “crosses a red line,” Abbas said.
The Palestinians’ head negotiator, Saeb Erekat, told Voice of Palestine radio station last week that any peace talks sponsored by the US would be rejected until the Americans revoke their December 6 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
