Anyone do Fasts regularly? I want to start, but i am pretty weak willed when it comes to food. But I got some issues in life i want to deal with and repeated sin I want to get rid of.
As I know there are these types of Fasts
3 day no food no water- That won’t happen for me at this stage I think it’d be really rough and I wouldn’t be able to make it.
21 day Daniel Fast- Definitely won’t happen.
40 day super fast(My title)- This is beyond even Daniel fast won’t happen for me.
Is there other methods? Perhaps I could start with skipping a meal a day or something. And during that would be meal time make my petitions to the Lord? and move from there? I dunno seeing advice tips and tricks.
November 21, 2017 at 9:59 pm #4441This is a suggestion. Aim for a week. The first six days fast one meal . Like maybe have breakfast then nothing again, except water till evening meal. Then eat your evening meal ( whatever you call it in Canada- dinner, supper). Then after six days do a 24 hour fast on the seventh day. See how you go with that. If you are like me- even that is quite tough. I need to do one again too really. Sometimes me and Brook Ardoin coordinate to do it at the same time to keep each other accountable in the fasting.
A Minute to Midnite Administration

November 22, 2017 at 12:31 pm #4467I am EXTREMELY weak with food. I’m a foodie at heart, so it seems that the whole time I’m fasting, I’m watching the clock and PRAYING it will be over soon. 🙂
I do mini-fasts occasionally — no food (just water) until dinner. I also do Facebook and video game fasts (I play Words with Friends and Solitaire a lot). One time, I did a no food for 3 days fast. By the end, my head hurt so bad, I spent the last half-day in bed just waiting for it to be over. It made me wonder if I was even doing it right — how could that even glorify God?
Anyway, you aren’t alone on this. Just sayin’.

Definitely a foodie.. thats why my gut is big LOL. When I did fast in the past as soon as i could eat again. I pigged out LOL. Feels like it’s ripping off the Fast or something.
Needs more discipline haha.

November 22, 2017 at 5:25 pm #4476I also find fasting hard. I lose all my energy, and tend to get a migraine from lack of caffeine as well. That is one of the reasons why I do it gradually over a few days- so that my body adapts to it a bit before trying to spend 24-40 hours or whatever on a total fast.

Makes sense. I’ll be trying this method. But my first one may have to wait until after December. Too many “dates” out and gatherings with food involved during that month with family and friends.
November 23, 2017 at 1:53 am #4509I think if you are not able to fast for one day, then the best way to start is to miss one meal (as you said) and also deny something else that is wordly say keep off facebook for 6 hours. During the period that you are denying, you then hold up the spirit and make your denying time a time of prayer (petition) not forgetting thanks and praise for all you have and all the Good Lord has done for you and your family. You could do that for 1 day a week for a month then choose 2 days a week separated for the next four weeks. Slow steps are what is needed and I am positive 100% the Lord will bless you just for trying and bigger blessings for your successful completion.
We live not only in a tempting world but also a very confused and busy world. If you fail do NOT chew yourself up but simply apologise and try again. practice makes perfect and the Lord will be with you in your struggles until you have mastery in your fasting pledge. God Bless!November 23, 2017 at 9:08 am #4515Update for those who care.
I decided to skip Breakfast and Lunch on Wednesday for Fasting. Trying out today for the first time. It was a bit hairy for a bit there, but iam starting to feel not hungry as much. Just doing water until dinner time.
November 24, 2017 at 9:11 am #4556Angela when I was in my teens I did a one day fast and ended up feeling sick. Like low blood sugar sick; even though I drank orange juice throughout the day. That’s put me off trying no food fasts for more than a meal or two. I was asking myself the same question as you by the end. I did fast through lunch on halloween and that was fine, but I guess my biggest struggle is knowing WHEN I should fast. Plus I’m either pregnant or nursing most of the time for the past few years and that complicates things too, lol.
