I also find it interesting that the NZ Airforce had training sessions with their Hercules troop and equipment carrying planes flying round NZ, along with Foreign planes too, in the few days leading up to the terrorist attack, and they officially continued until the 21st. Several times I witnessed up to 3 of these large aircraft flying very low over the coastline here. It may be total coincidence, but it is unusual. I rarely see Hercules planes flying at low altitude, and I have never seem three flying together like that before. Today I saw two again. A couple of days earlier I watched military helicopter doing some sort of exercise which I thought seemed odd, but perhaps that is explained as well in this Airforce posting. Not saying that this is connected with Christchurch in any way, but it’s just a bit out of the ordinary to say the least.

A Minute To Midnite Show Host‘You will hand them back’: Winston Peters’ warning to gangs over gun law reform
Winston Peters has issued a warning to gang members who say they won’t be handing over their guns despite the Government’s crackdown.The Deputy Prime Minister said on Monday that official legislation had been agreed upon by Cabinet to ban military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles, among other gun law reforms.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the gun law reforms over a week ago after it was revealed the alleged Christchurch gunman had legally purchased assault rifles using a standard A Category gun licence.
The Arms (Prohibited Firearms, Magazines and Parts) Amendment Bill has marked September 30 as the date an amnesty period will end for owners to hand their weapons to police, and a Government buy-back scheme will be announced.
The buy-back scheme will take into account the age and type of weapon, and the market value. It is estimated it will cost between $100 million and $200 million.
The challenge for the Government will be getting everyone to co-operate – particularly gangs – and that looks to be unlikely, with a Mongrel Mob leader telling Stuff members will not be complying with the law.
“Will gangs get rid of their weapons? No. Because of who we are, we can’t guarantee our own safety,” Sonny Fatu, president of the Waikato branch of the Mongrel Mob, said.
“The attacks between our organisations are gang-on-gang, they do not involve the non-gang members,” Fatu said, adding that members of the estimated 1000 associates should be trusted not to harm innocent people.
When asked how the Government would respond to gang members who refuse to hand over their weapons, Peters said the message will be clear: “You will be handing them back to the Government or some lawful authority.
“We don’t plan to fail on this… the process will apply to them, the same for any law abiding citizen in this country who has an armament that is legal but is about to be made illegal.”

A Minute To Midnite Show HostThere is a short video at the top of this article where two policemen demonstrate which firearms will still be legal, and which ones won’t be in NZ. The two police officers to a really good job of explaining reasons and demonstrating why some guns will be illegal in New Zealand and others won’t be. It’s definitely worth watching.
There will be public submissions and consultation ahead of any other proposed changes which they will look at later this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if some people in the US don’t start pushing for similar changes…..for right or for wrong. America has the least strict gun laws in the Western world. New Zealand is now moving closer to what most other western countries, and places like Russia also have. I would say that there will be UN pressure being brought to bear in this somewhere. Specially since it is being rushed through here before April 12th. The government and the police are also promising to crack down on gangs here, who publicly stated in defiance a few days ago they won’t be handing in their weapons. I wouldn’t mind betting that NZ is being used as a test case to see what happens with that……for the rest of the world to observe!
