American astronauts are going back to the moon, Mars under Trump’s new directive
On Monday, President Donald Trump signed the “Space Policy Directive 1,” a directive that orders NASA to start sending American astronauts back to the moon and eventually to Mars.
“The President listened to the National Space Council’s recommendations and he will change our nation’s human spaceflight policy to help America become the driving force for the space industry, gain new knowledge from the cosmos, and spur incredible technology,” Deputy White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley said.
NASA must lead U.S. astronauts in “an innovative space exploration program to send American astronauts back to the moon, and eventually Mars.”
If astronauts are sent to the moon, they would be the first to visit since the 1972 Apollo 17 mission.

Hmmm, I wonder what could be behind this? What more could we learn by going to the moon? Is it purely with the goal of getting to Mars? Why now?
Brings up a lot of questions regarding things I’ve read over the years that I would love to get everyone’s opinion on – was the moon landing fake? Is there a secret/alien base on the “dark side of the moon?”
Bear with me, I have no educated opinion on these subjects since I’ve not delved deeply into these topics.
I guess we won’t know for sure until it is in place. Perhaps he is doing it to create more jobs because someone has to build all those things astronauts will need. Or maybe it is to make us more competitive with the other countries who still have an active space program. Or maybe to keep Elon Musk from monopolizing the space program. I don’t see it as a good thing or a bad thing. But of course the enemy can always use what is meant for good to turn it evil. Time will tell.
