A Minute to Midnite Administration
A Minute To Midnite Show HostDecember 2, 2017 at 1:52 pm #4750LOLOL!!! That is so funny and true, in my experience!!!!!
SMH, thinking of my situation now and I’m trying to regain my composure before describing my workplace fun with a millennial…deep breaths…OK, ready to proceed.
I used to work in the pharma industry (12 years). First sales, then corporate training manager, and last position was a district manager, so a lot of experience hiring. Let me just say that I hated it but the money was good. Yes, it was before I was truly saved and gave my life to Jesus.
The stress was enormous so I left and now I manage a small business and I have 2 bosses. We needed some office help and one of my bosses proposed his son (yep, the millennial) whose only experience was working in a sandwich shop. First red flag. We had him come in 1 day per week to do some filing – which he didn’t even know how to do!! Second red flag. Deep breaths…deep breaths…
At some point I proposed to my bosses that we needed to bring someone on part-time to help and I had in mind placing an add for someone with office experience. However, both bosses presented the idea of the millennial/bosses son for the position at least 2x to me. Both times I said “no” and described his lack of skills, poor attitude, and unwillingness to learn without getting defensive. I’d hired enough people to know he would be an enormous challenge.
Well, they hired him anyway for waaaaayyy more salary than the position would ever earn in the marketplace, especially with no experience or college education, and full-time!
The only one who hasn’t regretted the decision is the boss/father and I have my suspicions that he’s regretted it a time or two. Sometimes it’s like I’m working with a spoiled alien who just doesn’t grasp how the world works. Fortunately, I get to work from home a lot so I guess it all evens out.
I think it’s God’s way of teaching me patience with those who aren’t like me, LOLDecember 3, 2017 at 12:01 am #4752LOLOL!!! That is so funny and true, in my experience!!!!!

Only, as much as I can sit here and laugh and grin, I bet most of the time you don’t find it so funny when dealing with it in the real world 🙂
A Minute to Midnite Administration
A Minute To Midnite Show HostDecember 3, 2017 at 4:44 am #4753It is enormously frustrating b/c, just like the video, he wants praise for doing a mediocre (at best) job. I’m just stunned. My best friend has heard me rant & rave so many times I’ve lost count.
I always said the one thing I looked for when hiring someone was a great attitude. I think that is closely followed by a teachable spirit. I love to learn and am always curious. I try to always have a positive attitude so it’s hard managing someone who is so negative and entitled.
I probably would have left long ago but I’m sure it would be a different version of the same situation wherever I would go. Plus, my bosses are very good to me. When my mother was in hospice (dying at home), they let me work from home exclusively so I could care for her. When she passed, they gave me as much time off as I needed, no questions asked. What a enormous blessing!
Overall it’s just like life, you take the good with the bad. 🙂December 15, 2017 at 10:55 pm #5067It is no wonder they want to get rid of us oldies, it won’t take them long to round up the millenniums & have them as pets, then they can run the world the way they want to. Maybe there is a lot to be said for going through depressions such as our grandparents did & a world war like our parents. It taught you to work to keep body & soul together. Today, kids are so self centred & out of touch with reality that they don’t have a clue as to how to survive & won’t when things go bad!
December 16, 2017 at 5:32 am #5073YES, Louise! Hard times certainly build character and the millennials appear to be sorely lacking it, as a whole.
December 22, 2017 at 4:52 pm #5265Has anyone heard this song? I died laughing when I heard it because it’s pretty true for some (many?) millennials. My kids love it too, and yes I’m a millennial. And yes, I like essential oils 😂. But I still don’t think I’m like *those* millennials.
