An interesting new article that kind of ties in with this latest show:

CRISPR DNA editing could do some serious genetic damage, study says

Gene-editing tool CRISPR-Cas9 has garnered significant amounts of positive press in recent months, as the promise of gene editing could help with medicine and alter DNA for the better. But a new study suggests that CRISPR isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
The study, published July 16 in Nature, makes the case that instead of CRISPR being thought of as a pair of “molecular scissors” (as it has been previously called), making surgical precise cuts, it may actually be “blunt” and cause more damage than previously thought.

“This is the first systematic assessment of unexpected events resulting from CRISPR/Cas9 editing in therapeutically relevant cells, and we found that changes in the DNA have been seriously underestimated before now,” said Allan Bradley, one of the authors of the study, in a statement. “It is important that anyone thinking of using this technology for gene therapy proceeds with caution, and looks very carefully to check for possible harmful effects.”

I just passed along a post about genetically modified babies that I had read about this morning & wasn’t going to worry about sending in until I listened to you & Doug talking. It was an interesting show. I am reading the Bible from front to back this year & one of the things that has struck me this time round is the many Scriptures that mention the giants. ! Chronicles which I have never managed to get through before mentions a giant from Egypt 11: 23. They were common place it seems. The other thing that I came to believe from my own studies of Genesis over the years is, that I think that possibly Ham married a wife that had angelic blood in her which is why when you read about Ham’s sons you find that some of them are definitely tainted with angelic blood & so giants. They go onto become races of giants eventually being mentioned in the first chapters of Deuteronomy & every one of them can be traced back to Ham in the genealogy in Genesis after the flood. Then of course the Philistines which are descended from Ham as well. We know that when the races were formed at Babel that families or groups of people split from one another according to language & over the coming years actually intermarried so different genetic markers appeared or colouring for that matter. Take the tribe of Benjamin, most of them were left handed! The Asian people predominantly look similar, other nations likewise have a similarity amongst their people. Today with our culture moving around the planet so much, we are getting more diversity as people from different cultures & backgrounds intermarry. As that song from many years ago used to say, we will end up coffee coloured people which is much better than trying to kill of different ethic colours, like Sth Africa is trying to do at the present time.

I wonder what Doug Hamp thinks of Michael Heiser’s study that these “sons of God” (“b’nai e-lohim”) is never defined as angel, but as what it says… sons of God. Heiser is very interesting, though at first you may think he’s heretical – God having sons (other than Jesus), but it has made the most sense to me – and his “Divine Council” studies from Psalm 82.

Not sure if Doug and Michael would have done anything together – Michael isn’t pro Hebrew Roots, which Doug seems to be.

Well, Dr. Michael Heiser is an actual scholar who knows the ancient world like few other people do and his view on the nephilim-question is certainly much better informed and doctrinally sound. I´ve read everything Mike wrote and his position makes absolute sense in the context of the ancient world. Back then every culture and their grandma knew that the spirits of the demi-gods who ruled the antedeluvian Golden Age were still lurking around – the shades of the rephaim, the dead heros of legend.

For now I can recommend Dr. Heiser´s “Reversing Hermon: Enoch, the Watchers, and the Forgotten Mission of Jesus Christ” regarding the question of the nephilim, and in general: “The Unseen Realm: Recovering the Supernatural Worldview of the Bible”. Mike´s upcoming book “Angels: What the Bible Really Says About God’s Heavenly Host” will release on September 19, 2018 and after that one he´s currently planning to write a follow-up exclusively on the topic of demons, which should come in handy. As grown-up Christians we should go for the meat of good theology books not just the milk of your average little prophecy video.

But if someone has never heard of Dr. Heiser or wants to look him up on youtube, this presentation over at the channel of Gonz Shimura is a good start:

Unfortunatly all Doug Hamp brought to the table today was not an argument per se but some kind of feeling of his that the fate of hybrid-spirits is not nice and therefore hybrid-spirits do not exist as a distinct class of entities (?), effectivly turning every demon into a fallen angel and the hybrid bodies into empty meatbags. Besides, Doug´s position is logically incoherent: When fallen angels were perfectly able to materialize, walk around in human form on their own and eventually marry and impregnate earthly women in the first place, why would there be a need for their offspring to be empty shells for them so that the fallen angels could inhabite them … to walk around in human form (???). This made no sense.

But I want add one thing: I want to say that it is absolutly normal for us humans to wonder and worry in a loving and empathetic way about the fate of other non-human creatures. We do this naturally because we are made in the very image of God. So yes, I personally have felt sorry for the giants at one time.

But here´s the thing: these hybrid spirits were and are abominations, they´re most likely genetically hard-wired from birth into the ways and “hearts” of their fallen fathers by means of an uplink into their supernatural realm, born reprobates, unable to repent because they´re literally unable to feel remorse or emphaty for the normal humans when they devoured their flesh and drank their blood. And after their physical end their spirits are earthbound and doomed to walk our world with all their fleshly desires intact, as a horrific unintended consequence of their bizarre double-nature, no doubt. Always hungry, always thirsty, – but without the flesh to fulfill these lusts, which is why they´re driven to enter or orbit living sinners to feed off them, driving their hosts further and further into bondage and perversion in the process.

These entities should never have existed in the first place, their spiritual blueprint may be intelligent design but by imperfect designers. For what´s it worth I give the demons one thing: They didn´t ask to be that way. That separates them from Satan and his fallen angels who rebelled out of their own free will as well as from all the wicked humans who will take the mark of the beast to willingly become hybrids. So if they have free will as we know it, perhaps the old-school-demons would receive less punishment if they just desert from their fathers and just surrender to the next best angels of Heaven. They have nothing to lose, they should try it, who knows what would happen. Their current retirement plan stinks anyway and smells after fire and brimstone. But hey, that´s just some free Henoch-style advice from some well-meaning Christian dude for the records of eternity.

Now that was a little exercise in existential philosophy… But as LA Marzulli always says: Rebuke first, ask questions later!

I have read through The Unseen Realm, but that’s about it – certainly not as much as you, Moritz. Most has been hearing podcasts in the car, over several years.

I agree that this episode wasn’t so good with Doug. He’s also educated to PhD level, as Mike is, and while they both have studied ancient Bible civilisations, this subject is certainly one that Dr Michael Heiser has studied most and especially with Psalm 82 and the Divine Council. So this time I found myself keep thinking back to what I’ve heard Mike say – which all makes sense.

I remember a few years watching one of the prequel Star Wars films and… the Jedi council and some of the things said. This was in my early days of Dr Heiser… and I thought hmmmm… Jedi council – seems like a divine council copy/counterfeit!

So yep, I did enjoy Doug’s first interview, but on this topic, Dr Heiser has very good thoughts/teaching/explanations and would be good to hear him interviewed by Tony!
