By Eric Stogner – January 2025
In case you hadn’t noticed from reading my other articles, I always try to ‘connect the dots’ and show how various events are linked together and how they may connect with bible prophesy. I also try to end on a positive and hopeful note with a solution to the issue I raise. I hope to be like Jeremiah who wrote describing the rescue God offers when he said, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” My goal behind discussing events of our day is to remind us of the sure hope we have as citizens of heaven and how we can live in peace in the midst of the storms that we find ourselves in today – when we need it most.
This article is not about one specific event but about the series of events and the matching amplification by the media echo chamber that are all part of a much larger agenda that seems to get more insidious over time – in a single word, it is CHAOS. It is something we are all being hit with from every direction, and it is time to open people’s eyes and connect the dots to reveal how chaos is both being deployed as a weapon and is an end state goal in itself that ‘the powers that be’ are using to break down the old world order as well as to fragment the very lives and identity of the people on the earth.
Do you think that was too simple and yet to broad an assessment? Read on. And before I even get started, I must report that I started writing this article in early December 2024, but am now updating it before publishing it around mid-January 2025 and I am glad I delayed it – because the events even in the last week just add proof to my point. Chaos is off and running from the very start of this new year of 2025. We had the pickup truck attack on crowds celebrating the new year on Bourbon Street in New Orleans that killed 14 and injured many more, along with the ‘cyber-truck’ bombing outside a Trump hotel in Las Vegas. Now, a few days later, we have a new wave of chaos that has already put the events of New Years eve down the memory hole. Because we have wildfires destroying huge swaths of Los Angeles, CA in what I would describe as ‘Lahaina 2.0’. As if the election shootings and destruction unleashed by hurricane Helene toward the end of 2024 on FL, GA, SC and NC were not enough. And what do these all have in common? Chaos …. or KAOS. I will explain that alternate spelling in a bit.
You don’t need to be a keen observer or a sociologist to have noticed the fragility, breakdown and disintegration of people and institutions in our world today. Few would say we live in a calm and stable world where things are heading in ‘the right direction’ and people are flourishing and doing well. The opposite is true almost everywhere you look – there is this general sense of people just being worn out, overwhelmed, frustrated, and downcast. What may have started during the covid lockdowns seems to have become more entrenched where people just seem less and less inclined to gather and even socialize anymore. Places from my local brew pub to Disney world have all been suffering and going bankrupt because people just don’t seem to want to congregate like they used to. People prefer to remain at home and surf the internet or binge watch NetFlix from the ‘peace and safety’ of their couches, or on the couch in the basement of their parent’s house. Even during this recent Christmas season, people just don’t seem to have much of any sense of joy or even happiness, everyone seems burnt out and even the former ways people perked up around the holidays seem more hollow than ever. They are more like hollow-days.
And this isn’t a local or American phenomena, this is global. There is unrest and disease and depression everywhere. Have a quick listen to this video that was in my YouTube feed just this morning.

This video was posted by a guy named Kalle Flodin, who left his full-time job and apartment in Stockholm back in 2018 to live a simple and more meaningful life in the northern parts of Sweden. He now lives in a remote off-grid cabin and he shares videos and stories about simple living, minimalism, personal development, etc. The video I saw was titled “Is this Normal – Why I started to question EVERYTHING”. Whether that lifestyle sounds appealing or not, it is worth listening to at least the first few minutes of that 26 -minute video. Even with his type of living, or perhaps because he has the distance and prospective that remote living away from the media and direct influence of the world, his observations about what he sees and feels are spot on. I dare say any honest and partially aware person would agree with what he shares. This video has 458,000 views in just 3 weeks with over 6700 comments posted underneath the YT video. And the comments are also very revealing and insightful. This is indeed a global phenomenon. And notice what it is causing – that people question everything. That is key to note – the idea that people are finding it unable to trust or count on anything they are told or experience. That has quite an unsettling effect on the soul.
He begins by saying that when he looks at the world it is like watching “The Truman Show” film starring Jim Carrey where everything is made up and it doesn’t make sense anymore. ( I wrote an article published and archived here on AMTM back on July 16, 2024 titled “How’s It Going to End? – We Accept the Reality of the World with which we are Presented” where I quoted lines from the Truman Show). Indeed ,we are living in a manufactured world that is getting increasingly bizarre. The trend or agenda has simply continued.
For many of you, I don’t need to rehash the events of the last day, week, month, year or decade in any detail to demonstrate the chaos. But, for a moment, just reflect back on them if you can. I know, they are all a bit of a blur and get lost in the collective memory hole we all have. This too is a sign, a defense mechanism that we must have to help us from being overwhelmed by so much chaos. And that is what I want to focus on – the state of being overwhelmed and what that means and does to a society and to us all personally.
We can’t or shouldn’t just bury our heads in the sand and pretend things are not happening to us and all around us. We often hear references to that profound film “The Matrix”, typically to recall the red pill scene where Morpheus is inviting Neo, or rather Mr. Anderson at that point in his awakening, to choose whether to go back to sleep within the confines of the matrix, or to wake up and become aware of what is really going on and eventually become his true self – a true man. (reference again to the Truman show). But that is not the part of the film I am thinking of now, but rather the side story of a character names ‘Cypher’. If you recall, he was already awake to reality and was a crew member on the ‘Nebuchadnezzar’ – a ship that carried and protected the remnant few that were awake and not held captive or deceived by the matrix. What was significant about this character is that he was someone who became awake, but then decided to give up and return back into bondage (almost like returning to Egypt to be enslaved again by Pharoah after having be led to freedom by Moses). Cypher lost heart and he missed the immediate short-term comforts of the asleep life of bondage. (At least there was food to eat back in Egypt vs what they had to endure in the desert always eating the same manna)
I get that sense about people today. Most people put on a brave face when out in public, but the mask keeps slipping and revealing something unsettled and upsetting hiding just beneath the surface. It seems to be showing up in a variety of ways – people not showing up to work reliably or getting out of the workforce altogether – it has been called ‘the great resignation’. It shows up in the empty pews and empty parks – it seems that people have grown accustomed to and now prefer to remain home – in their cocoons, online, and on their couches – what happened to human interaction? Is this a casualty of Covid, cell phones and social media? And look at the state of marriages and mental health – both are down, way down. Covid did accelerate marriage issues and the rise of people suffering from anxiety disorders and dysphoria of all sorts – it’s just through the roof. Something is different these days. You never used to hear or know anyone with autism a generation ago; likewise, there didn’t seem to be such mass anxiety and fragility among the masses. Just what has happened to us all?
Seeing the World from a Spiritual Viewpoint:
It all started to crystalize about a year ago, when I attended an event called “Survival School” where the speaker, John Eldredge, opened one of the sessions by raising some questions that I want to raise with you:
- Do you think the world is more stable, OR unstable and increasingly unstable?
- Does society and culture seem to be embracing genuine goodness OR spiraling into darkness?
- Do you personally find that staying close to God is easy, OR does it require more effort with mixed results?
- Does the short-term future look promising OR uncertain and foreboding?
The questions all seemed to have the same obvious answer, but it was super helpful to raise these questions to help bring clarity to the vague and unnamed sense of distress that seems so pervasive. The point was clear – something is not well with the world and in the souls of many.
It can be summed up in one word: Chaos
Chaos is what people seem to be feeling and reacting to. Chaos means complete disorder and confusion. That is the common denominator among all the examples of unease and dysfunction I was noticing and struggling against myself. It even seems harder to just focus and write and even to think clearly these days. People all over seem to want to check out, to take a mental health day, to just vege-out and binge watch on Netflix.
Here is another barometer of where we are as a society, I was kind of shocked when I saw an advertisement for a unique wall calendar that might be the perfect Christmas gift among the interruptions that YouTube interjects in their videos. (My first shock was that wall calendars were still ‘a thing’ in this digital age). But the deeper and disturbing shock was the content – both its juxtaposition and its vulgarity. This wall calendar was being held up as the perfect gift for all the worn-out women in your life and the cover title and ‘art’ of this calendar read “F*** it – 2025 calendar for Tired-Ass Women”.
The brief commercial went on to reveal how this large wall-hung calendar featured month after month of a lovely message written in large flowing feminine stylized font that were surrounded by lovely flowers on a black background featuring encouraging phrases like “ Not Today Mother F***ers!” and “Adulting is BullSh**” or perhaps the most telling bit of worldly wisdom is on the October page that proclaims: “Fueled by caffeine & F***ing Chaos”. And there it is – did you catch it? Chaos. This is being offered as a joke and a commentary of our times. And even though I don’t find any humor in this joke, it will sell because many will find this funny and it does obey the cardinal rule of jokes – they are only funny if they are true.
People are worn out, checked out, dazed, and confused; and we see with it not only as a decline in mental health, personal happiness and the overall well-being and morale of society, but we see it in a departure from what little biblical morality that we once found commonplace in the western world. We have been broken-down and hollowed-out as a society and the things and institutions and values that once stood as strong bullworks against this kind of disorder and confusion have been seriously eroded and are crumbling.
In the book of Daniel, it describes how in the end times, there will be an increase in travel and knowledge – we see that in its highest degree. We have the ability to be anywhere on the planet in a matter of hours and we all have the collected knowledge of human thinking at our fingertips on our smart phones and we now even have AI to sift through it all to do our thinking for us. But what is lacking is wisdom and connection between people and connection with God. And scripture also warns that in the end times ‘the love of many will grow cold’. When a woman’s wall calendar comes out with 12 months of sayings all under the title “F*** it – a calendar for Tired-Ass Women”. Well, I think we can safely say that we live in a world of disorder and confusion where the love of many has grown cold. And the result and the force behind it go by the same name: Chaos.
How a regular dose of Chaos has been inflicted on the people over time:
Media and staged world events have been the foundational source of chaos for a long time and this has only been amped up exponentially in the age of smart devices and social media. This chaos is a weapon that has been deliberately created, fomented, and turned up hotter and hotter – like the preverbal boiling of the frogs in the pot of water. (The video by Kallie Flodin mentioned above also makes this observation). Follow the dots with me as we simply observe what decades of media has done to our society and its most fundamental building block – the family.
Over my lifetime, I have noticed how the evening news, that transitioned to 24/7 news with the advent of cable TV, and now news feeds via smart devices and social media targeting has been slowly inserting chaos since the very beginning. At the advent or radio and TV, news was merely a small portion of what was broadcast and at that time kids played outside and roamed far from home without any concern. Their parents trusted then and their world and that they would come home when the streetlights came on. As the news evolved, it was still a pretty calm and stable part of life – occupying about 30 -to 60 minutes of TV viewing time on weeknights – giving the public a run-down of the local and national news, sports, and weather. But over time, we noticed that ‘the news’ became more like the murder and mayhem report, almost designed to alarm us, but they at least always ran some little positive human-interest story at the end of the broadcast. But, the good news ran only after the weather and after you had received your daily ration of mental agitation. Parents started reeling in their kids – allowing them to play only within their fenced-in yards.
Then CNN came on the scene, and we were bombarded with a constant stream of ‘news content’. And with so many hours to fill, the array of mayhem had to grow. The news beast had to be fed – so if there wasn’t enough murder in your local area, they would feature something 7 states away – just to keep you ‘informed’. (or on edge). Suddenly the screens became filled with news scrolls at the bottom and constant flashing with red banners with words like “alert” or “breaking”. The effects were subtle but pervasive – people became more destabilized. (It reminds me of the saying – the beatings will continue until the morale improves.) And suddenly parents who heard of a child abduction in Oregon no longer let their kids play outside at all. And now today, we have ‘news’ of global crisis and unrest fed into our feeds and brains nearly every waking moment. And parents today – well fewer people are parents, some gave up on parenting or adulting altogether and neglect their kids and let grandma raise them, or they go about like zombies taking the kids out to dinner and keeping them each plugged into their own devices during the entire meal and the walk into and out of the restaurant. (I saw this just last week). And we have reached a place where people are just shells of what they once were. Families are disintegrating and lives are falling apart.
This was just a quick run-through of how the media itself has been steadily evolving and feeding us on chaos; and how chaos is the agent of the mental, cultural, and moral erosion we see happening but struggle to name and address. It is the nature of chaos – chaos beings things from a state of order and function down to a state of disorder and death.
The effects of chaos:
Think of a dying person. Their body is literally breaking down until it can no longer function well or at all. And ever after the soul had left the body, the pathway to full disorder continues on. The body begins to decay and go into a state that science would call entropy. In other words, it decomposes and returns to the dust and elements that it was made up of. It is a picture of where the society and the world is headed – apart from the saving power of Christ. Or, for another image, think of a collapsing building or structure. If you need another picture of chaos as a transition from order to disorder, think what it looked like on 9/11 to watch the World Trade Center towers collapse and implode – in an instant, tons of steel and concrete was turned into a heap of rubble and ash. Or remember what happened a few months ago to the ‘Francis Scott Key’ bridge? In one moment, it was a towering strong orderly system of beams and load bearing members that securely held a large highway flowing with vital traffic of goods and people. And in the next moment, it all collapsed into a ruinous heap. Order to Chaos. Watch the videos of these well documented events and see what chaos looks like.
But note that these events were not random, each once strong tower was acted upon by an outside force like an aircraft striking it (or thermite charges set off within the structure) or when a bizarre and unexplained event just happens to divert a huge cargo ship that just happened to strike the ‘Francis Scott Key’ bridge at just the right place, to bring it all crashing down. Chaos is what results. It is the disturbance or destruction of what was once an otherwise strong and well organized and integrated structure or person. And since I am updating this with the most recent helpings of chaos – look at the impact of a powerful storm steered over multiple states from FL to NC and the chaos it created, or the wildfire in California and the terrorist events that kicked off 2025. It is making the world less stable and more chaotic and impacting the people of the world.
The effects of chaos on people:
I would make the observation that this is what is happening to our world and to the people around us. Outside forces are converging that has the effect of inflicting chaos on our systems and on the very foundations that undergird the nation, the people and an individual’s own internal sense of well-being and security. The people are suffering from a lack of predictability and stability. This is what happens when people are living in a war-torn country or a dysfunctional home. They no longer can thrive with a settled sense of calm and stability. Hence, we see people at their wits end and ready to collapse. Personally, when I look around, it sometimes seems like watching an episode of the walking dead. People seem so unhappy, so stressed out, so burned out. And considering all that we have been through lately – from the plandemic of 2020 and the resulting lock\-downs and the cumulative effect of all these other destabilizing events – it is no wonder why we find the world, and ourselves, in the state we are in. I try hard to remember this when I am interacting with others and seeing the results of all of this trauma and damage.
Is the Chaos Random?
So back to the opening questions – indeed, the world seems increasingly unstable, and God seems more distant or somehow harder to connect with. And my question to add to those above is: Do you think this is by coincidence or accident? Chaos is a state of confusion and randomness but when there was once order, it seems clear that the imposition of forces that are designed to bring about chaos is not random but rather are the deliberate actions of a power or entity that has a desire and an end goal for such chaos. How easily we humans forget that we have an enemy and he has been at work for a long, long time and he is ramping up his actions in these last days. His name is Satan or Lucifer and he has one objective that lies behind his mission of chaos and world domination. That objective is simply to divert as many people as possible away from entering God’s kingdom. He hopes to deceive and distract by means of chaos and confusion all who might call upon the Lord and be saved and strengthened.
KAOS and World Domination:
I now want to connect dots that go back decades that reveal the early stages of chaos that just started out as a harmless little trickle but that eventually went on to carve out a Grand Canyon in the minds of the masses. I remember a vintage American TV show that first aired in the late 1960’s titled “Get Smart”. This was a light-hearted TV comedy that was a parody of the James Bond spy-thriller films. In this TV version, the main character named Maxwell Smart was a bumbling secret agent working for a ‘clandestine US government counterintelligence agency based in Washington DC called “CONTROL”’. Maxwell Smart and his partner, the beautiful and witty ‘Agent 99’, were always engaged in a kind of spy cat-and-mouse battle against an villian or set of villains who worked for an evil organization that was called simply “KAOS”.
Back in the day, it seemed like innocent entertainment, but in retrospect, it appears to have been a kind of early ‘predictive programming’ and also a ‘revelation of the method’. Just the title itself “Get Smart” is to our day, even though it had been over 50 years since this show was first broadcast. Don’t we live in a world now were everything has gotten ‘smart’? We all have smart phones, smart devices, smart appliances and are being herded into smart cities. Everything is smart today except the people – the people have been dumbed-down. That silly sit-com from the 1960’s also introduced to the public to something that is common today. The main characters who were secret agents all had advanced ‘footwear’ – shoes that were secretly concealing mobile phones (long before cell phones were invented) . They could remove their shoes to reveal a full handset (shown with a contemporary rotary dial) on the bottom (or in the soul) of their shoes that they could use to help call to headquarters or each other for help whenever they were ‘hot on the heels’ of the bad guys. Granted, a shoe-phone never became a thing, but it was a forerunner to the modern cell phone, another innovation that was programmed into the minds of the masses, well ahead of its actual implementation.
But hidden in plain sight was an even deeper concept or really a ‘revelation of the method’. It was in the very name of the villains in the show – chaos was both their name and their mission, only they spelled it differently. All the bad guys that Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 were battling against worked for a sinister global entity called ‘KAOS’. This entity or organization was bent on world domination. I am not making this up – do the google search. And you could even argue that they were setting up a dialectic where the American government officials representing ‘control’ and the enemy entity that represented ‘chaos’ were locked in a never-ending battle where, the masses were entertained by their tit-for-tat antics, but frankly both were interested in control of the masses.
Do you see how that innocent TV show actually was pretty predictive? It revealed not only a glimpse of the future but a revelation of the method that the powers that be would use to bring about that future. Each week people were entertained by the back and forth nature of this enemy that never seemed to get defeated.
Understanding the method of Chaos
Chaos is both a weapon and an end-state. And it is achieved by a sustained war on the masses whereby they are subjected to the constant infliction of chaos – of churn and stress, or a tug of war between ideologies where one seems to represent order and the other disorder. Chaos can come in the form of unsettling news or in the dramas on NetFlix that get more and more disturbing. Heroes of old can no longer be strong stable heroes, these days the media has to paint them as dark, twisted and brooding flawed individuals who really aren’t that strong or good or heroic. The same has been done to our lesser super-heroes. Everything that once was good and strong and contributed to a simple, peaceful, and stable world has been systematically and deliberately undermined by what we are fed by media. How many movies can they make where the world is subjected to disease or alien invasion ,or people engage in mass violence and vigilantism? What happened to wholesome films where good triumphed, people respected one another, and all ended well. This shift in the entertainment world mirrors the shift in the real world.
How about a really recent example of chaos and predictive programming. Did you see the film “Leave the World Behind” that was produced by Barak Obama and starred Julia Roberts that hit number one on NetFlix in November 2023? Talk about a bizarre film that turned out to be predictive programing showing what chaos looked like and how it can be inflicted on a structure or on the nation! It depicted a dystopian world set in present day where we got to experience the unfolding of chaos as the modern world begins to implode. In it a huge cargo ship loses control and crashed onto a beach filled with people and airplanes and cars likewise crash. And this film was released just 4 months before the unexplained crash of a huge cargo ship took down the ‘Francis Scott Key’ Bridge.
Are you seeing the method at play here? Physical chaos and mental chaos is leading to social and emotional chaos. This is what is destroying society and doing so more or less silently and unobserved. Like a mental Trojan Horse or a computer virus. You can’t see it, but it has been unleashed and at work attacking the once strong structure that existed in society and within people and it is leaving them in tatters, weakened and ready to collapse. In this state, whole societies can be shaped, laid low, driven by fear, and ultimately remolded into something new and different.
Ordo ab Chao – order out of chaos:
Surely you have heard the phrase Order out of Chaos. And you have heard of the mythical imagery of something new being born or rising out of the ashes of what once was. The image of a phoenix bird soaring out of the flames, or a dust heap, is what we have been subconsciously taught to embrace. Out with the old order and in with the new. We were fed a catchphrase over and over during the most recent election process by candidate and Vice President Harris where she repeated over and over that “What can be, unburdened by what has been”. What does that mean? It means that we must leave the old ways and old world behind – it is only a burden and not a benefit; and we must embrace what is coming next. A new world order is being built all around us. And in order to get the masses to embrace it – they must break us down, get us to forget who we were, destroy our strongholds and erode our foundations. There is an entity, and he has a whole army of minions in the spiritual and the physical realm that is intent on just that. The ground and the people have been prepped for the big event or invasion. Not unlike how in a military battle, you use mortars and artillery or better yet aerial bombing and missiles to soften up the enemy – before the ground invasion and boots on the ground come in and take over. Satan wants us to forget God and to forget who we are and what we once stood on as our foundation.
We live in a world at war – a war on human ontology.
I am sorry to start your year off with this unpleasant topic, but I am only describing what was happening already. I didn’t bring it about. There is no more time to sit around in denial and it isn’t helpful to curl up on our couches in the basement and watch the final season of ‘Friends’. We must be sober and awake to what is happening and turn to the only solution there is to this end times assault – the solution is Jesus – and I will get there in this article, but quickly, let’s get back to the title I chose and the statement I made. I am claiming that Chaos or KAOS is destroying human ontology. What does that even mean?
Ontology means our very understanding and foundation for being. It encompasses our most basic foundations of reality and every entity within it – including the most fundamental concepts of humanity and what we have in common. The assault of chaos is why society is so divided. It also dismantles our concept of God and our place in his larger story. Our ontology could be considered to be the collective building blocks of society and the link between concrete and abstract objects like time, space and the link between the physical and spiritual world. This is at the heart of what humans rely upon for purpose and meaning and it is also the realm of actual connection between God and his creation – us humans. So, if chaos is a force and a weapon being used to take down strongholds and break down our very ontology, wouldn’t that explain the destruction and desolation we see and feel all around us in these present and last days? And wouldn’t that explain why the forces of evil Satan and his agents are bent on world domination and desire to inflict chaos and confusion so as to disrupt and thwart the plans and connection with his people of God? That’s it precisely.
Remember those opening questions – the ones asking about whether the world seems more stable or increasing unstable. The answer is obvious – we are living in mass chaos. Indeed, our collective sense of order, of safety, and all forms of identity: our national identity, our gender identity, our sexual orientation, as well as our concept of education and government, of meritocracy and even the nature of our creator – all of it has been under a constant assault and an inversion designed to bring it all down – to chaos. Taken further to its logical conclusion, it is getting so bad that we see a vast sea of hopelessness and desolation that leads to what is called: nihilism. Nihilism is a philosophy or viewpoint that ‘rejects generally accepted or fundamental aspects of human existence, namely knowledge, morality or meaning’. See how that is what erodes a person or a society’s ontology – the idea that life is meaningless, human values are baseless, knowledge is impossible, and that everything is pointless. Does this sound familiar deep in your soul? Do you not see and sense that this is steadily becoming the collective feeling or ethos of our day?
This concept has been around for a long time, but it is becoming more and more widespread in these last days. It is seen in the attitude behind the phrase ‘Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die’. It casts complete doubt on anything good or transcendent in our future and essentially says ‘live for and enjoy today, because there is no tomorrow, there is no hope of heaven. ‘ You might as well “do as thou wilt ‘ and let that be the only rule you live by if, indeed, everything is meaningless. Because in that world, there is no God, no heaven above us, no hell below us, above us only sky, therefore there is no future and no need for religion too. (Hmmm who sang about those concepts decades ago? )
The end game of Satan:
So today, we see how chaos has been inflicted and there is a pull toward nihilism and a struggle among people to find any real meaning and bedrock foundation for living. Do you see what this does – it erodes our trust and awareness in the true and living God. The effects are everywhere and obvious, for those who are not already consumed by the chaos and who have eyes to see. Fewer people live solid sound lives and those who do are the few who cling to biblical truth as the anchor to objective truth. These are the ones that don’t succumb to the chaos. And our foundations and stability and our trust in God is precisely what has been attacked – the anchors we once enjoyed in society and relied upon in our faith that kept us rooted and grounded in truth have been slowly eroded and discredited. Today people have few things they feel they can count on and turn to for objective and foundational truth. I and others like me are here to remind us that hope can still be found in God almighty who is the creator of all things and author of all truth. And He is about to and already has prevailed over the forces of darkness and chaos.
Scriptures to remember:
First, remember this all-important comparison found in John 10:10 that describes how Satan comes only to steal and kill and destroy but that Jesus has come so that we might have life and have it to the full. How true that is. What we really want is a full and abundant life. And it can only be found in Christ. Surely, we can see that Satan is all about causing havoc or mayhem The forces of evil desire to bring about chaos. But God and Jesus the Christ and his Holy Spirit are all about peace and order – genuine and everlasting peace and security.
Second, remember the passage from 2 Timothy 1:7 that says “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind’. Could the contrast between what God offers and what Satan brings about be more clear? We are offered two vastly different approaches and end points to life. One leads to strength and love and order (a sound mind) and the other leads to weakness, fear ,and chaos. Which way is the world heading and what is the broad path that most of society is stumbling toward? (picture the shuffling walk of the zombies we see on the Walking Dead). Clearly the world is heading into a pit of darkness where chaos and destruction are unfolding. The ONLY hope is found in the offer of Jesus.
Third, Jesus says something we must remember at all times in John 16:33 where is says “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace, in this world you will have trouble (chaos), but take heart! I have overcome the world.” The problem and the solution is spelled out so simply. We are told that we will have trouble and chaos, but the Lord reminds us that he has already beaten evil and chaos because he has made a way for us to live in peace in the midst of the chaos storm that is seemingly enveloping the world. This is how a Christian who walks closely with the Lord can take heart and be at peace when most of the world is reeling from the chaos.
Jesus offers both salvation and healing:
Finally, for the good news. And isn’t that what the gospel is called and what the angels announced when Jesus was born and stepped into our world? The heralding angels who appeared to the common folks, the shepherds tending their flocks by night, announced that the world would see a great light. They were announcing the coming of the Lord, the invasion into a world headed toward death and darkness of a savior that would truly save the day. They said, behold I bring glad tidings of great joy – for unto us is born a savior, Christ the Lord. He came to us as a baby to set in motion his plan to save individuals and reach the whole world, And he revealed that he will come again at the end of the age.
That has been the offer ever since. Personal salvation at the time of our death or when promises to return for his people. This is what I and many others spend a lot of time on this channel watching for signs of his return and as the world gets darker and these signs begin to happen, we are told to look up because our redemption comes nigh.
But Jesus offered more – not only a future hope of salvation, but a present hope for healing and restoration NOW. So, I want to offer something very powerful and healing, something that was shared at that event where those opening questions were posed. The questions revealed how much Satan has been an agent of chaos and dis-integration. But we have a hope – his name is Jesus and he offers healing and re-integration
In that ‘Survival School’, host and author John Eldredge and his team at Wild at Heart ministry did a great job illustrating this concept of people who have been fractured by the chaos by showing an image of a man in a stained-glass window. And when you looked more closely, you saw how the man was actually made up of glass shards held together by thin strips of lead metal. The image of man was still beautiful, but he was also fractured and, in a sense, dis-integrated. This is a picture of where humanity is in these days. But then we were reminded that Jesus is the great re-integrator. And how reintegration as human beings, and much-loved children of God is exactly what we all need. As we abide in Christ and lift up our broken places to him – He can heal us and even make us strong where the broken places once were. It takes some focus, but it is available NOW.
There is even a book written by another member of the Wild at Heart ministry team titled simply “Chaos Can’t” by Allen Arnold. The subtitle reads ‘Overcome What Comes Against You in This Shaken World’. That pretty well sums up my entire article.
So, here is the solution that I promised at the outset. Below is a link to that Reintegration session that I have been referring to. Why don’t you watch it for yourself and receive the healing power and truth of Jesus. Learn how he can be the solution or antidote to the mass chaos that we have all been deliberately assaulted by. The promise in John 10:10 is still available – if you seek him still. Jesus is the great integrator of our soul. Come and be healed by Him. This is our best and only hope for living with actual peace and security in a time when the world only offers counterfeit peace and instead brings about global and personal chaos and disintegration.
