Hi folks, I am going to do something here that I haven’t done before. The regular followers of the A Minute To Midnite Show may be aware that for over 2 years I have pretty much worked full time on AMTM, recording shows, and making videos etc. For the most part, even though it has been pretty tight, I have been able to survive largely from the donations that come in.

Here’s the thing that’s hard for me to do. I am going to ask people to please pray for me, and for A Minute to Midnite. I know the enemy seeks to shut AMTM down, and is pushing hard to do that at present. Of late, the donations coming in have slowed to a trickle. To the point where it’’s hard to see how I can even pay my rent and basic expenses, let alone anything extra. Top that off with the fact that my 10 year old Mac Pro Tower is causing me loads of issues at present, so that it makes it hard to even do the shows. It really needs to have money spent on it (or be replaced with a bit later model Mac Pro). But there is simply no money to do this. Right now I should be working on ideas that I have for videos. But to be honest, I am feeling some discouragement, and I’m struggling to focus on doing any of that, while I fight my computer problems, and while I try to rack my brains to work out how I am going to pay this week’s rent. It is stressful! At the same time I know too that it is a test of my faith and God wants me to trust him, and in his provision.

So please pray for me, and for A Minute to Midnite. That includes also praying for Matt S, Joanie Stahl and Brook Ardoin. Without going into details here, I am also aware that some people who have been supporters and encouragers of AMTM have also been coming under unusual spiritual attacks too. We have an enemy that wants to shut this ministry down. But we also have a God, and saviour Jesus Christ, who is bigger than any devilish schemes. So pray those schemes get thwarted and that the devil gets routed!

Hi, Do you know what’s wrong with your computer? Is it failing hard drives or is it running hot or something?

Hi, Do you know what’s wrong with your computer? Is it failing hard drives or is it running hot or something?

My computer is a 2008 Mac Pro Tower. So it’s getting on in years. It has four hard drives in it. The one with the operating system on it is only a 2 year old solid state drive. But It keeps getting errors, and as fast as I do disk repair it needs it again. So the computer has been slow and glitchy. So I am going to try installing another solid state drive and load all the operating system and apps etc on that, and hope that fixes the issues. It’s the most likely culprit..though it’s not the only possibility. I also had some other issues but I am hoping I have those fixed. I lost so much time this last week messing around with the computer not running properly- it has been frustrating!

I hope it’s running a little smoother now?
I had to stop being the go to person for computer problems – a little “my e-mail doesn’t work” problem often turned into hours and hours of sorting out.
Definitely frustrating when they don’t work!

No not yet- I am actually waiting for the solid state drive to arrive. Then when it does arrive, it will likely take me most of a day to install everything on it, and hopefully get it up and running well again. So meantime I am still running the computer on a disk with errors. It will likely arrive in the next couple of days. I am also going to be adding a bit more ram to the computer as well. Unfortunately with a 2008 Mac I can’t upgrade to the latest operating system. El Capitan is the last OS that works on it. But I really love the whole Mac pro tower system and layout…….before they started making the round waste paper basket models!

Although I didn’t see it in any of the forum rules, what I’m about to say may result in me being banned and my IP blocked.

I don’t have anything Apple! I’ve hardly even used any kind of Apple computer.

So when you talk about El Capitan, it’s all a bit foreign to me – that OS even sounds foreign – don’t they do an English version?!

I know they may (beauty is in the eye of the beholder) make nice looking stuff, but I just don’t like having to stick to Apple hardware and the $$$$$ they charge for it all. If I wanted a Mac, I’d probably assemble a Hackintosh and so get one cheaper. Ok, it wouldn’t look the same, but it’d run faster for less $ ! 🙂

I understand why they do it though – if they keep all the hardware the same then they can make sure the OS is more stable etc.

But I still don’t like ’em!

Hope your SSD and RAM comes soon!

                    *ducking for cover*!

                      * Actually, I probably wouldn’t build a Hackintosh, seeing as I’ve just read that putting the official Apple OS onto it would be in violation of their licence, i.e. illegal!!! 😀

Ok less than 30 minutes after I wrote that last answer, the solid state drive arrived by courier. I dis-assembled the computer, cleaned out the dust and then installed my operating system on the new SSD using a Time Machine backup. Within less than 2 hours I have this computer up and running again on the new drive with all my programmes operating . The ram hasn’t arrived yet, but I can tell you already it’s running like a different machine! It’s booting up quickly, programmes are loading quickly, and there are no disk errors. So yay- I am back up and running properly again. When the extra ram arrives that should improve it further.

Personally I hope I never have to go back to running a PC as a main computer again. After moving to a Mac 4 or 5 years ago I have never looked back. I have had far less trouble with Apple stuff than any PC I have ever had. I like the OS much better than Windows as well. I hate Windows 10. Plus Macs almost never get viruses. I just wish they had never stopped making the Mac Pro Towers. But yes- the main downside with Apple is the cost compared to most other platforms.
But the main thing is I can now get back to doing AMTM stuff properly again!

The new additional ram has now also arrived and I installed it. Immediately I could tell the computer is running faster than it ever has before, so I should have no problems with working on audio and video now.

That’s great news, Tony! Audio and video – two of the more intensive things the computer could ever do, so a few more GBs always helps!

Of course, if it were a PC, it’s so fast it’s almost finished before you start 😉 😉

And to think that my first little computer only had 3Kb! I was looking through an old computer magazine a while ago and a hard drive was the equivalent of NZ$2300. You’re thinking wow, how many terrabytes was that? Try 10MB – yes, megabytes! We have single JPG files larger than that!

Anyway, that’s great news, and hopefully makes you look forward to getting more videos done than sitting down anticipating problems!

                            God bless

Yeah it’s crazy how much we have become dependant on computers so much. heck, it doesn’t seem all that long ago that most people didn’t even have a computer..or even a cell phone for that matter. When I started out with my first computer I think from memory it had a 20 gb hard drive, and so much stuff was done with floppy disks that held next to nothing! These days a 20 gb drive wouldn’t even come remotely close to holding just the operating system- let alone all one’s files!
I definitely prefer Apple products over PC’s etc…but I do still have a 2004 PC with Windows XP service pack III on it….it’s never been on the internet, and it still boots up ok if I ever need to use an old PC programme for something or other on it.
