Saudi Arabia will monitor interpretations of the Prophet Mohammad’s words to counter extremism, King Salman said in a decree issued Tuesday.

The King will establish the “King Salman Complex” in Medina where elite scholars will monitor and examine religious teachings to “eliminate fake and extremist texts and any texts that contradict the teachings of Islam and justify the committing of crimes, murders and terrorist acts.” the Saudi Press Agency reports.

The transfer of power to Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known as MBS, is expected already next week, DailyMail.com said in the report published Thursday, adding that the king will continue only as a ceremonial figurehead.

Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman dubbed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei “the new Hitler of the Middle East,” demonstrating the escalating tensions between the two countries while issuing a dire warning.

In an interview with the New York Times Thursday, the Saudi Arabian prince and defense minister called the Iran’s Supreme Leader “the new Hitler of the Middle East.”

“We learned from Europe that appeasement doesn’t work. We don’t want the new Hitler in Iran to repeat what happened in Europe in the Middle East,” the Times quoted Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as saying.

Saudi Prince Released After $1 Billion Deal, Official Says

Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, one of the most senior Saudi royals detained in the kingdom’s corruption crackdown, has been released after reaching a settlement deal believed to exceed the equivalent of $1 billion, an official involved in the anti-graft campaign said.

Prince Miteb, who headed the powerful National Guard until earlier this month, was released Tuesday, the official said on condition of anonymity in discussing matters under the supervision of the public prosecutor. At least three other suspects have also finalized settlement deals, the official said. It wasn’t immediately possible to reach Prince Miteb, son of the late King Abdullah, for comment.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom’s predominant leader known as MBS, said the majority of those being detained had agreed to pay back some of the money they had gained illegally in exchange for their freedom. The prince said authorities could recover as much as $100 billion in settlements.
