E126 Is Your Faith in Something or in SOMEONE? What or WHO Will Save YOU?

Many times as Christians without knowing it, we have put our trust and faith in something or others that cannot save us. We do not know this at first, but then a tragedy hits, or a fierce enemy attack, losses that bring instant terror and desperation. Then the activities of prayer, mid-week bible study, personal bible reading, and friends are found to be empty. Not because they are pointless exercises, but that in themselves they have zero saving power. Indeed the bible is the word of God, but when calamity strikes it many times can be impossible to read the word because of mental grief or heaviness. Then there are times when no one can be found to talk to and comfort us which makes matters worse. Yet, even when they can be found, we find that their compassion and understanding are no match for the trial and war at hand. We find out just like the Israelites who went to war with the Philistines, who did not pray beforehand, but put their trust in the Ark of the Covenant thinking IT would save them. IT did not. Rather they suffered extreme heavy loss of life and ran back to their tents in terror. They did not think to start by seeking the Lord for His help and power to save. They took for granted that God was with them because of them having possession of the Ark. This is what God will allow to bring out into the open in each of our lives in time of great affliction that we have long ago taken our faith and life in Him for granted. Then we will see if we have any Arks in our lives substituting for the REAL Living God who is mighty to save.
