E121 The Tongue to Bless or to Curse…Life or Death?

From the moment we wake up in the morning until we go to bed tens of thousand's of words per day are spoken. Jesus made it very clear in Matthew chapter 12 that "out of the over flow of the heart the mouths speaks." Paul the apostle in James chapter 3:6, Paul powerfully builds on it by saying, "the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell." He even states that "the tongue no man can tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison." (vs.8). That would explosively reveal that ONLY Jesus Christ is the "Man" that can tame it. As Christians we have an enormous responsibility to "be slow to hear and slow to answer and never quick to speak," which will give us the opportunity to choose pure speech that cannot be condemned.
