The following is a response to an email that we received from one of our listeners. He had a question regarding Daniel 9:27. The question, in my opinion is one that many Bible students ask when they come to this verse. Oysten asked, How can we know this is indeed the Antichrist if there is no name attached to this person? How can we know for sure that this setting is in Israel? Is the coming Beast System going to be Islamic? These are great questions. I answered in the following. And it is my hope that, this will encourage you as students of the Bible and Prophecy to dig in and find out for yourselves, as I offer this to you as a springboard for your take off into deeper layers of understanding.

I will do my best to answer intelligently according to sound Biblical doctrine based on the Word teaching the word.”In thy light we see light.”
So here goes. Remember, a good student finds out through a good searching the truths of the word. Then stands in it.
The Book of Daniel is one of my favorite books. The verse you mentioned is one that many have a bit of trouble getting clarity on. The reason is because it takes a rather extensive and indepth study into multi-dimensional layers. I do not say that to stand above you. But it is the path that leads to clear-cut understandings of the players, the times and seasons, future events and so on. Let’s start with the first verse in question:
“Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week.”
This is indeed the Antichrist. We are not given the title. But he is a man. He is spoken of sporadically throughout the Bible. His first mention of this personage is in Genesis Chapter 3:15. When God cursed Satan.“And I will put enmity between you and the woman (Israel), And between your seed and her seed. He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” Genesis 3:15.
So we see the immediate set-up of the ancient redemption plan of the Lord. As well as the “Seed of the Serpent.” Who is the Antichrist. Satan hates the Jews. He hates the Jews because the Lord Jesus Christ is of the Semitic line. The One prophesied to come that would ultimately bruise his head. And the meaning of head in the Bible is government. The future Antichrist government that would arise at the end of time is prophesied to be destroyed by the Lord Jesus Christ when he returns in the Second Coming.
Satan wants to rule the world. His whole premise is the abject lust for worship. He is a spirit. He does not have a mortal body, but must have one to incarnate himself in. As God worked intensely through fallen mankind, and in keeping the Semitic (Jewish) line meticulously to produce Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. so in like fashion Satan has been fast at work to produce his “Man of Sin,” the “Antichrist” through a wicked line of fallen mankind.
When we only look at one verse and think to say that God is not giving out names in the absolute does not disqualify the meaning in Daniel 9:27. Like I said, a careful study supports this as the Antichrist. Remember that Satan hates the Jews because the Lord arose out of them They also have a future role on earth as “the Chief of Nations” in Jeremiah 31:7. Satan knows that Jerusalem will be the eternal premier capitol of the world in the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ where He will rule and reign forever He is Lord of Heaven and Earth.. He knows that Israel belongs forever to God. And it is the Royal Land Grant of the 12 Tribes of Israel. This is yet future.
Satan needs this man. And Satan wants the seat in the Temple to declare himself to be god. It did not work in heaven when he looked unto the throne of the Most High God and thought that he would depose God and sit in His throne as God. Since that did not work, he was cast out of heaven forever. This being the first of three times of his being cast out in succession. First he is cast out of heaven. This has already happened. The next time, is during the middle of the Seven year Tribulation when he is cast out of heaven forever and banished to the earth. (remember in Job chapter 1, Satan is among the Sons of God (angels) to give an account of his whereabouts and doings to God. And the third time, he is cast out of the earth is in Revelation chapter 20:10 forever into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone to be tormented day and night forever and ever. This is future.
So the plan from the beginning will be played out in this man by Satan to fulfill his lust for worship. When it says that “he makes a covenant with many for one week” is the NIV translation. But the more literal translation is the Authorized Old King James Version 1611. This is how it is actually termed.
“Then he shall confirm (meaning the covenant is already in place at the commencement of his appearing) a covenant with many (the covenant of peace made with many nations, probably brokered by a forerunner who sits in the seat as the U.N. Secretary General) for one week , but in the middle of the week, (the middle is the after the first 3 1/2 years), he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease,( at the beginning of his administration and for the first 3 1/1 years he is going appear and stand as a friend to the Jewish nation, and encourage their oblations and sacrifices. During the first 3 1/2 years the Temple will be rebuilt and the Jews will re-implement the original ceremonies with the Antichrist blessing) and for the over spreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, (at the end of the 3 1/2 years knowing he has a short time left, he will enter into the Holy of holies and declare himself as God. See 2 Thess. 2:3-9, And he will set up and image of himself within the Temple of himself and give life to it. With the command from the False Prophet commanding everyone to worship the image made unto the Beast and to receive his mark, which will be Satan’s counterfeit born again experience. Which is idol worship par excellance.. The first of the 10 commandments is to NOT do this. And this will cause the Jews to know instantly that they were deceived). even until the consummation, (meaning, until the very end of the last half of the last 3 1/2 years of the Great Tribulation). and that determined shall be poured upon Jerusalem.”
In Isaiah 28:18, “Your covenant with death will be annulled, (it will be annulled at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ). And your agreement with Sheol (hell) will not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through. Then you will be trampled down by it.” (meaning, they Holy city will be trampled down by the Antichrist Armies.).
This is the Covenant of Peace the Jews make with the Antichrist. He must appear to the Jews, that he is their long awaited Messiah. They must accept him and will hold him up against every fine point of prophecy. The Jews will not accept an impostor. They will only accept a man they think is a Jew. He must prove he is a Jew. Or they will shun any agreement (covenant) with a person who will not meet these requirements even 99%.
Satan wants to kill them (the Jews), bottom line. He wants the seat of Jesus Christ. Though he could not usurp the heavenly throne, he tries then to usurp the earthly throne of Christ.
When Satan was cast out of heaven. This was long before the creation of Adam and Eve. And when he was cast down to earth, there is no record as to how long he was here. But his being in the Garden of Eden and his deception was obvious. He knew that the earth was given then to Adam to govern and rule. But Satan could not have that. This enraged him and his jealous envy initiated a take back. So he tricked the position of governingship out of their hands and won it by default.
You see, Satan needs his man. His masterpiece, the Antichrist. The Beast system is his government. And it cannot be Islamic. Islam was not around until 600 A.D. The Islamic people are the descendants of Ishmael period. However, they go further back to the line of Ham. The line of Ham is the Caananites and out of them is Ishmael. The nation of Islam does not just want Israel, but the initiative of their religion and prophecy is to dominate the entire world with a global Islamic caliphate. They hate the Jews as well as Christians. But it does not stop there. Everyone who is not Islamic or refuses to bow to their demon god is referred to as an infidel and qualifies for execution. The Antichrist, wants world domination from the ancient lustful hunger to rule the world as the false messiah. His sights are not on Mecca, but on the “Beloved City.” The counterfeit messiah the Jews have been looking for for centuries will perform all the counterfeit “lying signs and wonders” to convince the Jews that he is indeed who they have been waiting for. And he indeed has more than just the name “Antichrist.”
